With the advent of the era of cloud computing, people‘s views on traditional PC office have changed, and various terminal devices have emerged to replace traditional PC office. We are familiar with cloud terminal, thin terminal and fat terminal. At first glance, many people think that cloud terminal, thin terminal and fat terminal are the same product, but after understanding, we find that they are not the same. So what‘s the difference between them.

1. Cloud terminal: the cloud terminal is more about the terminal using ARM architecture. It uses arm architecture embedded processor, which has the characteristics of small size, low power consumption, low price, easy to use and power on. In many cases, the cloud terminal needs to be used with VDI or RDP cloud desktop, and it cannot be used as a computer alone. More applications are used in schools, e-reading rooms and training institutions, which are not very complex.

2. Thin terminal: as we all say, thin terminal generally refers to the terminal equipment of x86 architecture. Compared with the terminal of arm architecture, it has independent memory and hard disk, and has the same characteristics as traditional PC, but its own configuration does not need to be very high. Generally, it is not used alone, and it is more used with VDI cloud desktop. Compared with arm architecture cloud terminal, it has higher performance and compatibility in the use of cloud desktop. General applications are used in enterprise office and cloud classroom in Colleges and universities.

3. Fat terminal: fat terminal we can also call it Mini host or mini computer, using x86 architecture, also has the characteristics of small size, low power consumption and low price. However, compared with the two terminals mentioned above, it has a higher configuration. It can achieve the same performance as traditional PC without matching with cloud desktop and server. It is mainly used in some e-commerce enterprises and real estate intermediary stores. Of course, it can also be combined with voi and IDV cloud desktop to achieve unified management.

We found that no matter cloud terminal or thin terminal or fat terminal, they all have some characteristics, that is, the volume, power consumption and price are lower than traditional PC. They all exist to replace the traditional PC office.
